Robert Half Accounting Assistant in Atlanta, Georgia

Description We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team located in Atlanta, Georgia. The role primarily entails preparing journal entries, conducting cost reviews, and participating in the month-end close process. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity within the construction and contracting industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process journal entries, focusing on revenue recognition and cost of sales, while managing house inventory.

• Conduct detailed reviews of budgeted house costs versus actual costs, ensuring accuracy by closely collaborating with Division Construction and Purchasing teams.

• Actively participate in the month-end close process, assisting with the consolidation and reporting of financial results.

• Maintain and update financial records in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all data is current and precise.

• Collaborate with other departments to collect and provide necessary financial information.

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements, ensuring they are accurate and ready for review.

• Comply with the organization's policies and accounting principles, adhering to all standards and regulations.

• Utilize skills in Journal Entries, Budget Allocations, Budget Administration, Month End Close, and Data Entry to execute responsibilities effectively. Requirements • Proficiency in creating and managing journal entries

• Experience in budget allocations and administration

• Demonstrated ability to handle month-end close processes

• Proficient in data entry tasks

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction/contractor environment

• Advanced knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
