Job Description
AECOM are recruiting a Principal EC&I Engineer to join our established and ever growing Nuclear Team in the Warrington office.
AECOM are one of the foremost multi-disciplinary consultancies in the world with the skills and experience to support clients throughout the full project lifecycle including planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance.

Our Nuclear Team is primarily focused on design, management & supervision of multi-discipline projects on all the major clients within the UK, with a primary focus on turn-key solutions to projects often including electrical system design, building services and direct consultancy services.
The position requires an experienced Principal EC&I Engineer who can then apply their skills as an individual or as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to multi-million pound complete turn-key solutions.
In addition to Principal EC&I Engineer duties, the successful candidate may be required to both manage and project report on their package of work. Additional responsibilities may include the client interface, preparation of bids and proposals and then managing the delivery of the projects in accordance with AECOM’s quality, safety and environmental procedures.
Job Description / Role
Principal EC&I Engineer reporting to the Head of EC&I Engineering at the Warrington office.
You will be responsible for delivery of EC&I design & engineering within that department, including the production of design documentation, design substantiation, as well as checking and approval of the work of other engineers & designers.
We are looking for individuals with the ability to lead, mentor and develop a team, who are capable of growing the EC&I business. Determination and drive to succeed is essential, as is the ability to develop strong networks with our clients and within our organisation.
The ideal candidate will already have the skills listed below but you probably do not have all the skills listed below, all additional training to achieve those skills will be given as part of the role.
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Your previous experience will demonstrate some competency in any number of the following areas listed below not all are essential:
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted.
Travel to other UK company sites and some international travel may be necessary as part of the role.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
For this role we would expect you to be:
Qualified to a minimum of HNC level and preferably have a good relevant engineering degree.
Chartered Engineering or Incorporated Engineer or on your way to be.
Extensive relevant experience and be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge and leadership experience.
Full driving license.
General
Functional Design Specification, Basis of Design & User Requirement Specification production.
Document and Drawing checking and approval.
An appreciation of mechanical / civil and process systems and the aptitude work within a multi-disciplinary team.
Deliver project deliverables within timescales, budget constraints and quality expectations.
Manage the work load and technical aspects for large and small teams.
Experience of leading multi-disciplinary bid teams.
Liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors.
Assisting in recruitment activities.
Developing EC&I capability and growing the business.
Risk and quality management.
Electrical
A working knowledge of BS7671
Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
Building Services design
Control and Instrumentation
Control system design
Design of conventional instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, instrument schedules etc.)
Control panel design (GA’s, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists etc.)
Preferred Additional Qualifications / Skills
Nuclear experience is an advantage but not essential
Project management skills
Experience of commissioning electrical and control systems
Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513)
Medium / High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
Fulfill all responsibilities for Health and Safety in Design.
