Job Summary

The Member Experience Generalist’s primary accountability is to achieve girl and adult membership goals by implementing recruitment and retention strategies as assigned. This position is responsible for supporting Member Experience teams as assigned during peak season activities and/or providing coverage for vacant Community Engagement Manger or Volunteer Experience Manager positions. This role is responsible for engaging and cultivating community support for all Girl Scout programs to achieve strategic goals and objectives and is a primary support to the volunteers. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, flexible scheduling and reliable transportation.

Job Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned when supporting or backfilling the role of Community Engagement Manager.

Recruitment for Assigned Geography

• Implement appropriate recruitment strategies.

• Achieve the specific recruitment goals for assigned Communities as measured by new girl and adult qualified leads troop placement and membership. • Recruitment of volunteers to support troop, community, region programming.

• Support assigned geographic areas by ensuring high quality marketing and communication of activities and programs through Council resources and external community resources as appropriate. Share stories about how Girl Scouting changes girl’s lives – and how girls change the world.

• Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity in a timely fashion.

• Responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance and communication of recruitment events, such as the rally site, social media advertisement, school websites, etc.

Volunteer Support & Community Development

• Support volunteers in implementing recruitment and community development strategies.

• Cultivate and nurture relationships with appropriate community volunteers, regional volunteers, and council-wide volunteers to support recruitment efforts within targeted areas.

• Responsible for knowledge transfer to permanent Community Engagement Manager as they are onboarded to the community.

Retention Strategy & Retention for Assigned Geography

• Achieve girl and adult membership goals through the development and implementation of appropriate retention strategies.

• Accountable for new troop leader success which may include visits to support new troops, provide resources and capture their needs, provide expertise in all Girl Scout programming and associated resources.

• Support the development and implementation of a robust adult volunteer mentoring program throughout assigned geographic areas.

• Ensure the delivery of role-specific learning opportunities and resources that are delivered in multiple ways that are continuous, fun, and adaptable to different volunteer styles and are effective at preparing volunteers for their roles.

• Responsible for assigned Community goals related to retention, training, recognition and support of adult volunteers /members.

• Responsible for assigned Community goals related to program participation, girl retention, and the product sale.

• Responsible for knowledge transfer to permanent Volunteer Experience Manager as they are onboarded to the community.

Volunteer Support & Planning

• Ensure there is a solid administrative volunteer service delivery structure in place, filled with appropriately vetted and trained volunteers who effectively deliver Girl Scout services to girls and volunteers in their assigned geography.

• Support and oversee all components of an efficient and effective volunteer onboarding process in Communities including administrative vetting, training, field support and tracking.

• Ensure volunteer administrative teams develop and execute volunteer role planning and development, onboarding of Troop Leaders, annual plan of work, and retention strategies.

• Support volunteers in implementing comprehensive council wide volunteer experience strategies.

• Support and attend key volunteer meetings in the community and region throughout the year.

• Provide resources and support to volunteers in targeted markets, utilizing any specialized support strategies. • Monitor operations and assigned geographies and ensure that volunteers comply with Council’s risk management policies and procedures. Address and escalate non-compliance when needed.

• Work collaboratively on council initiatives.

• Support a culture of philanthropy and consider a personal gift to GSSJC and United Way.

• Participate in conferences and staff meetings.

• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
