MAG Cybersecurity Specialist Intern in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland

Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist intern who will work closely with senior cybersecurity professionals to provide support to PL SSW for all matters related to cybersecurity across the product office’s portfolio of systems and capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with Cyber Professionals to perform security reviews and identify security gaps in security architecture resulting in recommendations for inclusion in the risk.

  • Works with Cyber Professionals to ensure that cybersecurity-enabled products or other compensating security control technologies reduce identified risk to acceptable security levels.

  • Provides support in defining and implementing system security requirements, designs security architecture and develops a security design for program platforms.

  • Assists with various information assurance /cybersecurity programs such as security authorization activities in compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies and procedures including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, A&A packages, and Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM)

  • Assists with vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support Assessment & Authorization (A&A).

  • Assists with review and analysis of system audit logs to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to network resources.

  • Assists with conducting vulnerability scans and recognizing vulnerabilities in security systems.

  • Work with government customers to support computer security incidents and vulnerability compliance.

  • Input and maintain system documentation into government record-keeping systems like Xacta and eMASS.

  • Provide input to the Risk Management Framework process activities and related documentation.

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding and some experience of various information assurance /cybersecurity programs.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Clearance

  • Active Secret DoD Security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Cyber Security or other related technical degree program, i.e. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc

Desired Requirements

  • Industry recognized security certification and familiarity with DoD INFOSEC Systems

  • Active Security+, CISSP, CISA, or equivalent certifications (DoD 8570 IAM 2 equivalent)

  • Experience with performing Security Control Assessment in compliance with NIST SP 800- 37, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-53A, and other NIST 800 guides.

  • Active TS/SCI.

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to work within an office/lab environment
