Your role at Baxter:

Responsible for crafting, developing, implementing, and evaluating efficient, cost-effective projects and technologies. In addition to provide technical support and service to responsibilities areas, the incumbent may also perform the following functions: supervising, requisitioning, documenting, validating and trainings.

This pivotal leadership role orchestrates global facilities and utilities operations for the MPT ISC segment, ensuring efficient design, construction, operation, and maintenance across 22 facilities worldwide. Possessing deep expertise in medical device, pharmaceutical facilities engineering and corporate standards, you will guide a distributed team and champion standard processes while navigating extensive domestic and international travel (up to 50%).

What you'll be doing:

  • Technical Leadership & Expertise:

    • Champion cGMP regulations,pharmaceutical facility design principles,and corporate engineering standards.

    • Provide guide mentorship and technical leadership on facilities and utilities to internal and external team members.

    • Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of designs,plans,and procedures.

    • Develop and implement standard processes for facility engineering and utilities management.

    • Be responsible for the consistency of Global Engineering Standards to established EH&S,Quality,and regulatory requirements.

    • Develop and make sure Global Engineering Standards (GES) for consistency and compliance.

  • Project Management & Standards:

    • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for facility services and projects.

    • Lead initiatives to improve energy efficiency,carbon footprint reduction (ESG),and sustainability within facilities.

    • Leverage engineering standards and Quality by Design principles to support pharmaceutical manufacturing facility site design details.

    • Supply to the development of Basis of Design,Request for Proposal,User Requirement Specifications,and Design Specifications.

  • Compliance & Regulations:

    • Ensure consistency to various regulations,including Code of Federal Regulations (21CFR),EPA,ISPE,ASME,and local EHS codes and building codes.

    • Possess strong technical knowledge of mechanical,electrical,plumbing,HVAC,structural,safety,architectural,landscape,and energy management systems.

    • Conduct design reviews and coordinate with external agencies and internal customers for approval of technical drawings.

    • Act as a domain authority (SME) for deviation investigations involving utilities,facilities,and critical systems.

    • Cultivate the continuous improvement and update of corporate engineering standards and specifications.

  • Teamwork & Improvement:

    • Develop policies,procedures,and metrics to supervise critical facilities data and drive continuous improvement.

    • Collaborate multi-functionally with colleagues in Operations,Quality,EH&S-ESG,and Advisory Services to achieve operational,strategic,and business alignment.

    • Partner with multi-functional teams to implement facility improvements and upgrades.

    • Actively participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives within the global engineering community.

    • Conduct audits and assessments to identify and address potential compliance gaps.

  • Project Execution & Risk Management:

    • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

    • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with facility and utility projects.


What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.

  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical facility engineering or a closely related field.

  • Proven expertise in cGMP regulations,pharmaceutical facility design principles,and corporate engineering standards.

  • Confirmed ability to lead and collaborate optimally in a global team environment.

  • Excellent communication,presentation,and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental,health,and safety codes and laws.

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in healthcare-related plant equipment and systems operations.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Technical expertise in handling the design,implementation,and maintenance of process and control systems for large-scale manufacturing facilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering design software (e.g.,AutoCAD,Revit).
