Capital Region BOCES Health Careers & Services Supervisor in Albany, New York

Location: Career & Technical Education – Adult Health Careers Program Basic Function: This is a professional position that involves the oversight of daily student activities within the Health Careers and Services Program at the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School. The incumbent is an active member of the CTE administrative team and oversees and supervises the secondary and post-secondary Health Careers programs and services. Oversight is exercised over the Health Careers teachers and support staff. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director- Health Careers & Services. Does related work as required. Responsibilities: 1. Oversees curriculum, clinical rotations and scheduling of Adult Health Careers program and Sterile Processing program. 2. Oversees curriculum, clinical rotations and scheduling for secondary Health Careers & Services program. 3. Utilizes data to assess the effectiveness of staffing patterns, scheduling and organizational structures in attaining desired student outcomes, in collaboration with the principal. 4. Oversees and maintains learning management system. 5. Develops calendar, schedule, syllabus and lesson plan creation for all Health Careers & Services programs, in collaboration with the principal. 6. Oversees SIMS lab, curriculum, scheduling and rotations for all Health Careers & Services programs, in collaboration with the principal. 7. Coordinates the scheduling of substitutes for both classroom and clinical needs. 8. Organizes and conducts regular meetings with clinical staff. 9. Coordinates examination schedule for applicable Health Careers & Services programs. 10. Coordinates professional development opportunities. 11. Serves as primary subject matter expert to Health Careers & Services instructional staff for curriculum and program-based questions and requirements. 12. Performs related duties as required. 13. Good knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations applicable to Health Careers & Services programming. 14. Good knowledge of modern principles and practices of health care programs and services. 15. Good knowledge of database management. 16. Ability to lead the work of others. 17. Ability to coordinate class and work schedules. 18. Ability to work effectively with both professional and non-professional personnel. 19. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records. 20. Initiative and resourcefulness; tact and courtesy. 21. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Job Qualifications

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree in Nursing Education, Nursing Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, which shall have included two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess and maintain a license as a registered nurse as issued by New York State. Possession of a CPR Certification at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
