Sandia National Laboratories Intern - Power Sources Production - Technical Undergraduate Year Round in Albuquerque, New Mexico

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Technical Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Assist in the design and support of our product acceptance testers, which are a mix of custom design and commercial equipment. This work includes working in a laboratory environment designing electronic systems, characterizing instrumentation setups, and creating automated data collection systems.

  • Aid in the experimental laboratory research and testing of different kinds of power sources for NW purposes.

  • Programming various hardware and instrumentation using LabVIEW.

  • Perform data analysis and post-test processing using MATLAB, or other available tools.

  • Deliver results and report findings to team members and project partners.

Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

  • U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience programming National Instruments hardware with LabVIEW

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages like MATLAB, C, C++, Java, and/or Python

  • Experience using Git for source code management

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience working with custom-built test systems (design, fabrication, certification, troubleshooting)

  • Strong analytical, diagnostics and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivation to work effectively as an independent contributor

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering

About Our Team:

Our team is part of the Power Sources Technology Group. Specifically, the Power Source Production Department which has two major tasks. The first is the production of power sources for the Sandia External Production program. These power sources must meet strict quality control requirements as well as meticulous test requirements to be shipped for use on Defense Programs (DP). Our second task includes the design, development, assembly, and maintenance of various testers for the Power Source Technology Group's components and products. We carry out tests for both DP and Strategic Partnership Project customers.

Security Clearance:
