Description
We are seeking a Sr. Accountant with experience in processing payroll in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is integral to our team, focusing on the efficient and accurate processing of payroll and associated accounting functions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your skills in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and payroll tax reporting among others. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate directly with a CPA CFO on a one-on-one basis.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the processing of payroll transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with governmental accounting regulations
• Coordinate with the HR department for timely processing of employee updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates and benefits
• Maintain and update records of payroll transactions, including W4s and tax withholding on wages and benefits
• Ensure accuracy in payroll disbursements, benefits, and other compensation adjustments
• Verify quarterly tax reports, mandatory tax deposits and reconcile year-end payroll processing of W2s
• Prepare and submit journal entries for all payroll transactions including bank transfers and payroll liabilities
• Assist in annual audits
• Prepare invoices related to payroll and benefits by fund type
• Conduct intricate payroll data preparation and analysis for collective bargaining negotiations
• Utilize problem-solving skills to research, analyze, and retrieve data for preparation and maintenance of payroll reports, summaries, and reports.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accountant role or similar position.
• Expertise in account reconciliation is necessary for this role.
• Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliation is a must.
• Experience with bank reconciliations is required.
• Ability to prepare and manage journal entries is essential.
• Experience in handling month-end close processes is crucial.
• Prior experience with payroll management for 101-500 employees is needed.
• Familiarity with audit preparation is a significant part of the role.
• Experience in billing and billing functions is required.
• Expertise in payroll tax reporting is necessary.
• Proven skills in problem resolution are essential for this role.
