Axis Senior Data Center and Server Lead in Alpharetta, Georgia

Senior Data Center and Server Lead

The Server & Datacenter Tower Lead position is responsible for administering services, technology, and operations within their assigned functional areas in support of our business partner’s expectations from an availability, reliability, scalability, security, audit, and cost perspective and overall 10+ years of experience in leading IT operations.. This includes managing day-to-day operations and project activities within their towers, in conjunction with our Outsourcing Suppliers.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensures adherence to enterprise IT policies and procedures. Review of all current documentation and processes to ensure ITIL compliance. Assist in the planning and oversight of change management activities.

  • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.

  • Provide support for IT and Business project activities. Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and ensure proper communication to all stakeholders.

  • Partner with ITO suppliers and the Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO) to adequately plan and deliver business and Infrastructure initiated projects that involve aspects of their towers.

  • Collaborates with the Infrastructure Architecture, Operations, Project Management, and Application teams to properly forecast future demand and drive the appropriate actions to fulfill these needs.

  • Assists in the development of and ensures the Supplier is adhering to agreed refresh strategies.

  • Define architectural roadmaps for Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity utilizing the cloud and provide support and oversight of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity activities for their tower.

  • Drive a service-oriented culture across all activities and proactively identify and ensure the timely remediation of issues within their towers.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of Knowledge Artifacts for their tower, such as documentation, technical standards, operational procedures, workarounds, and technical drawings.

  • Manage, Direct, Track, and oversight of day-to-day operations of Wintel, Linux, Citrix, and Datacenter Operation Towers

  • Manage operations pertaining to their towers that are under a Managed Services agreement with the Supplier.

  • Support the achievement of service levels and metrics-based performance in collaboration with the Outsourcing Suppliers.

  • Manage and Coordinate activities related to Servers, racks UPS and hardware Upgrades, decommissioning, rack moves and services migration within various Data Centers

  • Continuously monitor network traffic and server performance. If issues arise, they must quickly troubleshoot and rectify the problems to minimize downtime and ensure continuous service availability.

  • Patch and vulnerability management of all kinds of operating systems, applications, and other software to ensure security and optimum performance.

  • Monitors security protocols to protect data from unauthorized access, malware, and breaches and provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.

  • Ensure that data is backed up regularly. In the event of data loss due to hardware failures, human error, or other reasons, they must be prepared to restore data from these backups swiftly.

  • Experience in managing and maintaining multiple virtualization technologies.

  • Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions.

  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning and ensure operational assurance.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities and follow through on tasks. Problem solver who exercises sound judgment in complex situations.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships within AXIS, the Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing (ITO) supplier, and other suppliers to enable the objectives of their towers to be fully realized.

  • Provide technical guidance, disciplined judgement, and oversight of Infrastructure Operations activities related to Service Operations, including incidents, problems, service requests, change management for their towers.

  • Promptly respond and resolve inquiries and escalations. Ensure systemic issues are identified and remedial actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.

  • Being flexible with working on off-hours, weekends, and even holidays

Education and Certifications

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree (willing to accept foreign education equivalent as well as a three-year bachelor’s degree) in computer science, engineering, or business/related field and 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in IT Infrastructure Engineering and Operations.

  • Should have ITIL and PRINCE2 equivalent certifications and be well versed with ITIL Processes such as Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

Management Skills

  • Experience in Global IT Delivery Model (offshore & onshore), Managed Services, Data Center Operations, Vendor Management, Remote Support, People Management, Security, Risk & Compliance Management, and SLA Management and Reporting.

Technical Skills

  • Datacenter & Server Hardware Management

  • Minimum 10 years of Data Center Management experience supporting data center services such as power, space, and cabling management, etc. along with Network physical topologies Copper CAT6, OM4, OS2 Specifications and best practices.

  • Experience installing, cabling, and configuration of IT devices (servers, network, storage, PDUs, and UPS).

  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco UCS Blade Infrastructure and HP Blades Platforms.

  • Management of Cisco Intersight/CWOM(Turbonomic)/IWO experience along with configuration and management of Cisco hardware in IMM (Intersight Managed Mode) and UCS central.

  • Storage & Backup Management

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in managing enterprise storage systems (NetApp Storage for the protocols CIFS(SMB), NFS, Datastores, iSCSI along with cloud base storage systems (Azure NetApp Files, Cloud Volume ONTAP)

  • Experience with Symantec Backup Exec, Rubrik Backup Solution along with NAS CD

  • Extensive knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes and solutions (Rubrik, AVS)

  • Virtualization & Cloud Management

  • Minimum 10 years of System Administration of VMWare at an enterprise level (7,8) and (AVS) Azure VMware Solution.

  • Experience in Citrix and AppV management.

  • Management of Azure technologies (IAAS, SAAS)

  • Other Skills Required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manage and support of Windows and Linux Server operating systems and patch/vulnerability management using LANDesk and Azure Arc.

  • Management for on-prem VDI environment and W365.

  • Identity and Access Management, Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy and DNS management

  • Knowledge of PMP (Password Manager Pro)

  • Implementation of corporate security standards and Auditing.
