Summary
This posting is for a full-time Research Assistant who will work on a neuroimaging research study in young adults, focused on identifying neural patterns associated with alcohol desistence or persistence. The Research Assistant will work with the principal investigators and other members of the research team at the University of Michigan.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include recruiting, screening, scheduling, and paying participants.
Conducting in-person studying visits at the fMRI Lab, which involves consenting participants, setting up and monitoring fMRI tasks, and administering neuropsychological assessments.
Sending follow-up assessments to participants via email.
Keeping track of enrolled participants.
Assisting in preparation of progress reports and other summary materials.
Performing literature searches.
Cleaning and scoring data for future analyses.
Working collaboratively with other team members to fulfill the goals of the project.
The potential exists to assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentations at conferences and workshops.
Required Qualifications*
High School Diploma or GED is necessary.
Must have exceptional:
organizational skills with keen attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn and develop additional computer skills.
communication skills (both oral and written).
Candidate should be comfortable discussing sensitive behaviors such as substance use and mental health with participants.
Schedule must be flexible to allow for work on occasional school days-off, evenings, and weekends.
Desired Qualifications*
Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Previous experience in a human science field and working with human participants.
Experience with statistical processing software, such as SPSS or R.
Work Schedule
Variable; will include occasional hours over weekends, if necessary, when scheduling participants for fMRI scans.
