Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will integrate modular computer systems hardware and software to build special purpose computer systems and computer-based control systems. You will design and develop embedded computer systems for use in Systems Engineering labs and student and faculty design projects. You will diagnose and troubleshoot system software/hardware, sensors, peripherals, and communications components. You will instruct midshipmen on techniques of design, construction, and debugging of control systems, electronics, computer hardware and software projects in the areas of research, design projects, and labs. You will maintain complex lab systems such as robotic systems, Radar, SONAR, vision systems, communications systems, embedded computing and environmental testing systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For the GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting and analyzing designs, diagrams, and schematics to evaluate feasibility; 2) Troubleshooting hardware and software of laboratory systems such as RADAR, robotics, and environmental systems; AND 3) Applying knowledge of electronics and components such as microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators to design control computers. For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Designing, developing, and integrating computer hardware, peripherals, sensors, controllers, and networks for use in specialized control systems; 2) Maintaining complex lab systems such as robotic systems, radar, sonar, vision systems, communications systems, embedded computing and environmental testing systems; AND 3) Advising and assisting others on the best project design techniques and component selection.
