Job Title: Senior Associate, Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:

  • Solve manufacturing problems with innovative solutions

  • Own continuous improvement in our processes and documentation on multiple production programs

  • Liaison between manufacturing and all other relevant functions regarding process and product

  • Support transition from engineering development to manufacturing

    Essential Functions:

  • Investigate and implement alternate/new manufacturing processes and technologies to help continuously improve our processes.

  • Provide key technical input on all product designs for manufacturing ease and cost considerations. This includes analyzing different design approaches and manufacturing methods.

  • Examine early assembly prototyping/testing to provide feedback in the design process.

  • Initiate and review manufacturing work flow and processes/procedures such as:

  • Work/assembly instructions

  • Rework and modification instructions

  • Travelers/routers

  • Special process instructions

  • Standard repair instructions

  • Review and approve drawings for the Manufacturing Department (i.e. sign off authority).

  • Communicate information between the design and manufacturing teams, and ensure that design feedback from manufacturing is relayed to engineering.

  • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives in the organization such as 5S, Tool Control, etc.

  • Physical Requirements (such as ability to lift up to 45 lbs.)

  • Up to 5% travel may be required

    Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances as required.

  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods, specifically in composites, metals, and electronics.

  • Experience with technical writing, specifically work instructions and process documentation.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Masters degree in relevant engineering field or related field and/or equivalent experience desired

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)

  • Experience in a 3D CAD software. Experience in Creo is preferred

  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

  • Experience with 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing

  • Experience with SQL or data analytics

  • Experience/certification in lean practices; 5S, six sigma, etc

  • Experience in aviation or military systems manufacturing preferred

  • Experience with creating and presenting performance metrics
