Description

Financial Analyst/ Staff Accountant - opening for a growing manufacturing operations located in ASHLAND, Virginia. The Financial Analyst will play a pivotal role in our finance department, providing key insights and analysis to support our accounting and manufacturing functions. This role will involve a range of responsibilities, including cost accounting, financial analysis, and management reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare necessary journal entries and analyze inventory activity to assist with month-end close.

• Review financial records, analyze key business costs, and make necessary adjustments to the ledger to accurately reflect the financial status.

• Conduct daily reporting and analysis of production and inventory.

• Carry out reconciliation of inventory accounts by researching and correcting discrepancies.

• Coordinate and support periodic physical inventory and cycle count processes, and research inventory discrepancies and adjustment calculations.

• Identify inventory process improvements and propose solutions to streamline processes.

• Track and monitor capital project costs.

• Participate in the review of Bill Of Material (BOM), standard cost, and test new standard costs for accuracy.

• Maintain standard costs and conduct cost accounting activities.

• Analyze production costs vs standard costs and propose applicable correction to the standard cost.

• Compile data on overall manufacturing costs and analyze materials, direct and indirect labor costs, overhead costs, and manage connectivity across manufacturing and finance to translate business drivers into financial impacts.

• Assist with annual and monthly budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Drive analysis on key performance trends by aggregating data into actionable information.

• Evaluate risks/opportunities to financial performance and recommend changes to company processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting. Analyze results vs forecast, budget, and prior year benchmarks.

• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis, as requested, and assist in special projects.

Requirements • Demonstrable experience in Cost Analysis and Cost Accounting

• Proven expertise in Manufacturing Cost Accounting

• Proficiency in Financial Analysis and Budgeting

• Experience in KPI Reporting

• Proficiency in SAP software

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple projects

• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and legislation

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
