The Superior Court of Fulton County Georgia (“Court”) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Audio/Visual Technician.

Superior Court is Georgia's busiest trial court of general jurisdiction. The Court seeks to provide a forum in which legal disputes between citizens can be resolved in a fair and efficient process with attention to equal access, impartiality, efficiency, and safety. Job Summary:

The purpose of this classification is to design, implement and maintain audio-visual technology infrastructure in courtrooms, jury services, conference rooms and other facilities used for judicial processes or other approved meetings or activities.

Essential Duties:

  • Support the design, implementation and maintainenance of the audio-visual infrastructure which include: microphones, loud speakers, audio mixers, sound amplifiers, sound recording systems, video conferencing systems, video display systems, crestron flat panel displays, video switchers, etc.

  • Create and implement a daily preventive maintenance schedule for all audio visual equipment and ensure operational effectiveness for courtroom proceedings juror management and meetings; responsible for inventory of all courtroom technology systems and equipment.

  • Act as primary and first level contact for all issues related to all court audio-visual technology.

  • Serves as primary instructor on courtroom technology for all court personnel; develops procedural guidelines and training documentation as needed for end users.

  • Coordinates video and teleconferences for the Court which may include scheduling, troubleshooting, setting up equipment, initiating calls and monitoring equipment.

  • Monitors developing technology and recommends and assists with the design, hardware selection, installation and integration of audio-visual system upgrades or features to meet evolving court needs.

  • Interact and work collaboratively with outside audio-visual contractors and consultants to ensure quality of work and organizational standards are met.

  • Create drawings signal flow diagrams showing layout, dimensions and requirements of audio-visual systems including related electrical and data infrastructure.

  • Provide basic support with IT network and systems related issues.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires specialized experience the audio/visual field, including A/V switching, processing, control systems, conferencing, equipment rack configuration, control programming (microphones, amplifiers, hardware/software, digital recording, video routers and markers, computer/video interface). Networking systems, (video and audio visual) via TCP/IP. Ability to research, isolate, and make corrective recommendations of courtroom technology problems using a variety of programming skills and hardware troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of videoconferencing applications. Ability to troubleshoot devices such as serial or hardware device level interfaces. Experience with Crestron/Extron/Lectrosonic systems and programming. Experience in designing of audiovisual systems and audio systems software and hardware. Ability to read and understand electronic plans and schematics and review or generate the same with a thorough understanding and knowledge of signal flow principles and concepts. Strong written, verbal and graphic communication skills. Ability to training users on equipment and make presentations to groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in theater arts or a related field; supplemented by two years of experience in audio/visual, theater or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree or technical diploma in related field.

Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) from AVIXA or leading manufacturer in the A/V industry.

Proficient understanding of LAN/WAN hardware and software, fiber, wireless networking as necessary for the implementation and maintenance of audio-visual technology and systems.

Related experience in the judicial industry.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Licensing Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and racks. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing.
