Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in property accounting, coupled with strong analytical and financial reporting skills. This role will involve the preparation and analysis of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and other critical accounting functions. Proficiency in Excel and Sage software is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statements Preparation:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations:

  • Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all accounts are accurate and discrepancies are resolved promptly.

  • Maintain detailed schedules for all balance sheet accounts.

  • Property Accounting:

  • Manage and oversee the accounting for multiple properties, ensuring compliance with internal policies and relevant regulations.

  • Record and reconcile property-related transactions, including lease and rent adjustments, tenant billings, and common area maintenance (CAM) charges.

  • Handle property acquisitions, dispositions, and related accounting tasks.

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate and analyze financial reports to provide insights and recommendations for financial performance improvements.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes for assigned properties.

  • Software Utilization:

  • Utilize Sage software for all property accounting functions.

  • Maintain and update financial data in the accounting system to ensure accuracy and integrity.

  • Excel Proficiency:

  • Use advanced Excel functions to analyze data and prepare comprehensive financial reports.

  • Develop and maintain complex financial models and spreadsheets.

  • Work closely with property managers, lease administrators, and other departments to gather necessary information and resolve accounting issues.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in property accounting.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, specifically related to property management.

  • Proficiency in Sage software and advanced Excel skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

• Experience with Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Extensive knowledge in Financial Reporting

• Strong skills in Financial Analysis

• Must hold a Degree in Accounting or related field

• Proven experience as a Sr. Accountant

• Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office and accounting software

• Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
