Key Responsibilities:

Senior Level

  • Support the management of funds flow including CU Medicine, UCD, and CHCO cost centers associated with the Center for Children's Surgery

  • Manage, track, and communicate clinical deficit planning between CHCO financial team, CU Med contract team, and cognate department directors/managers. Responsible for coordinating communication of processes to CU Med fiscal staff, CHCO fiscal staff, and cognate departments to ensure accurate tracking and maintenance for funds flow processes

  • Reconcile and follow up on budget variances on a monthly basis for assigned accounts

  • Update and analyze monthly and quarterly financial projections

  • Enter, approve and advise on Center/Division requests for reimbursement, travel, procurement cards, PO's, etc

  • Enter financial transactions including JEs, PETs, opening, closing, modifying accounts, etc.

  • Participate in frequent meetings with division business personnel and faculty to discuss financial issues and provide support in resolving issues discussed

  • Serve as a resource to help manage UCD payroll systems monthly payroll/benefits reconciliation and report variances.

  • Uphold and follow all fiscal policies and procedures

  • Responsible for building and implementing fiscal standards of excellence including but not limited to creating reference materials for support staff, training support staff on proper fiscal documentation and processes, and serving as a ‘help desk' for questions regarding fiscal processes

  • Serve as content matter expert, leading meetings with DFA, faculty, Cognate Departments and CHCO representatives to discuss financial projections and actuals. Provides and presents analyses and report outs.

  • Independently suggests, builds and maintains complex financial data sets/reports

Minimum Qualifications:

Senior Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in science, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two (2) years of professional level business experience with duties in finance, budgeting or accounting

Principal Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in science, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years of professional level business experience with duties in finance, budgeting or accounting

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado.

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, including proficiency with pivot tables, conditional formatting, and formulas

  • Familiarity with CU, CU Medicine, and CHCO fiscal and grant administration policies and procedures

  • Experience managing a large volume of financial data

  • Experience with campus systems including m-Fin, PeopleSoft Finance System, Marketplace, Concur Expense Management, InfoEd, MyBI, CLX, etc.

  • Experience with financial database development

  • Experience with labor distribution/management

  • Experience with grant management

  • Proficiency in budget planning, preparation, and forecasting.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, researchers, and administrative staff.

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and composure under pressure.

  • Must be fiscally responsible to ensure funds are managed per all pertinent rules and policies (Federal and non-federal granting agencies, State, University, School of Medicine, University Physicians, inc.,

  • CU Foundation, Childrens Hospital Colorado, etc.)

  • This position requires significant attention to detail, computer sophistication, and general database knowledge.

  • Ability to prepare and present analytical assessments and reports, and to communicate professionally and effectively.

The Center for Children's Surgery (CCS), part of the School of Medicine (SOM) and based at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) is seeking a full time Finance and Accounting to join the core administrative team. In this unique position, the Finance and accounting Professional will gain knowledge, expertise and exposure to financial systems at both the SOM and CHCO, serving as a key contact, resource and liaison for team members at both institutions. This position will work very closely with the Director of Finance and Administration to ensure the smooth daily functioning of financial and administrative processes within the Center. The Center for Children's Surgery consists of 11 different Departments and Divisions, representing and supporting over 100 faculty that care for Pediatric patients.
