Auditor IVElection AuditorJOB DESCRIPTION:Perform advanced auditing work related to processes, security, and information technology as it relates to elections. Work includes examining, investigating, and reviewing records, reports, and management practices to ensure legal compliance with state law and program efficiency and effectiveness. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Assist with the planning, coordinating, and execution an audit activity related to election processes and election security practices to jurisdictions throughout Texas. Work with various computer software applications, including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access. Assist in developing policy and procedure manuals for the state election audit program. Develop training materials and dissemination of audit procedures, expectations, and preparation guidelines to jurisdictional stakeholders. Responsible for typing and proofing correspondence drafted or assigned by section management. Works with program staff in determining findings and recommendations for election process improvement. Prepares reports, including summaries of findings, conclusions, recommended revisions, and other working papers regarding projects assigned by management. Responsible for training county officials. Provides recommendations to counties in developing required written policies and procedures required by the Texas Election Code, and Texas Administrative Code. Perform related work as assigned. Must be willing to travel 50% of the time.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data analytics, computer information systems, business administration, government, public affairs/administration, or a related field. Related work experience may be substituted for educational requirement. A minimum of 3 5 years of work experience related to the election process, information technology/security analysis, or data analysis.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Work experience with City, County, State and/or Federal Election processes. Working knowledge of auditing and data analysis applications. Working knowledge of information security as it related to the Election process.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills. Skills in instructing others, in facilitating workshops, and in the use of a computer and applicable software. Ability to provide technical assistance or guidance to peers and external clients. Ability to formulate learning objectives, to develop training objectives, to evaluate the effectiveness of training, to assess training needs, to communicate effectively, and to assign and/or supervise the work of others. Work experience with web-based applications. Ability to handle difficult situations and to identify and solve problems. Strong analysis, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to multitask, prioritize, remain focused, and be flexible to changes. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in interaction with others. Ability to adhere to approved work schedule and maintain attendance and punctuality. Ability to work overtime and extended hours on projects. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
