Johns Hopkins University Research Technologist in Baltimore, Maryland
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technologist to join the Cahan Laboratory in the Institute for Cellular Engineering and Department of Biomedical Engineering. We work across several disciplines including molecular and developmental biology, manipulation of pluripotent stem cells, single-cell genomics, and computational biology.
A major aim of our research is to develop computational and experimental tools to assess the fidelity of cell populations derived from embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells. The applicant will work closely with the faculty investigator and play a foundational role as the lab moves from launch phase to establishment and maturation phase. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter to gain a broad range of technical experiences and to contribute to the intellectual output of the laboratory.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the faculty investigator, responsible for handling and differentiating mouse and human pluripotent stem cells.
Also perform routine lab tasks and lab management activities to support experimental efforts in the lab and will work with trainees and the investigator to implement new single cell omics techniques.
Willingness to work with mice preferred. If interested, the technologist has the option to be trained on computational analysis of single cell omics data.
Operates basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, pH meter, analytical balance, incubator, spectrophotometer, electrophoresis equipment, light microscope, and/or utilizes laminar flow hood.
Operates lab computers for data entry and inventorying.
Prepares lab stock solutions and reagents.
Other laboratory duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
Excellent organizational skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with molecular biology, stem cell biology, and cell culture is stronglypreferred.
Computational/analytical training is a big plus.
A minimum two-year commitment is strongly preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $15.50 - $26.00 HRLY ($40,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
