Johns Hopkins University Research Technologist in Baltimore, Maryland
The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Research Technologist for the division of Neurosurgical Oncology. Under general supervision, the Research Technologist performs clinical and/or research laboratory experiments by following established procedures and protocols or with instruction. Characterizes DNA derived from plasma, CSF and tumors to identify genetic and epigenetic alterations in individuals with cancer and non-cancerous conditions. Uses basic science knowledge to learn techniques/methods of the lab. Runs lab tests and completes measurements as assigned. Identifies and resolves common problems and uses analytical skills to implement assigned projects. Understands the role of other lab members and accepts constructive guidance and functions as part of a team-based approach to science. Sets-up experiments based on defined standards. Collects and maintains project data and detailed lab notebook.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Performs clinical and/or research lab tests and experiments.
Follows established procedures and protocols, utilize appropriate techniques to perform laboratory tests and/or experiments.
Exchanges routine information in an appropriate manner requiring good oral and written communication.
Has regular interaction with students, vendors, post-doctoral fellows, faculty members, and clinical fellows.
Responsible for routine operational activities such as: ordering supplies and materials, reviewing inventory, maintaining up to date records of tests, etc.
Performs preventative maintenance of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $15.50 - $26.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
