CareFirst Web Content Intern Fall Recruitment - MD, DC, VA (Remote) in Baltimore, Maryland

As a Web Content intern, you will be an integral part of CareFirsts marketing team. We are looking for candidates with a passion for learning and a desire to advance their knowledge. You will collaborate closely with other members of the marketing team supporting content and other digital projects to support the CareFirst brand with an emphasis on managing web content projects and keeping business owners informed of the progress. Completing day-to-day activities that include editing copy for the web, validating the look and feel, editing content both within a content management system and within HTML coded websites, in addition to editing and adding PDFs to the web site.

The ideal candidate is a student who can work throughout the year a minimum of 15-20 hours in the Fall and Spring and full-time in the Summer. The target start date for this internship will be October 2024.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ideal candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and ethics. This position may include the following duties:

  • Support the day-to-day content editing and implementation of CareFirst's external-facing websites and other digital projects using basic HTML coding to ensure proper look and feel and functionality.

  • Uses the enterprise email platform to build and edit messages to our members, partners, sales, and government programs audiences including data integrity of distribution lists and ensuring all messages links, content, and other assets function correctly.

  • Support 508 governance by making sure accessibility and quality assurance applies to each website by fixing broken links and misspellings and enabling sites to meet compliance and current legal and branding regulations.

  • Assist in supporting open-enrollment content edits across multiple websites

  • Update Transformation section of CareFirst com including setting up new articles and making edits to copy and images.

  • Assist in designing and coding of email campaign templates using a set of predefined templates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: This position requires an individual working towards at-least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University.

Experience: Junior or Senior Undergraduate student targeting majors in Web Content, Web Development, Communications, Graphic Design or related studies with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above.

Knowledge Skills Abilities (KSA's):

  • Familiarity with content management systems (Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, Sharepoint, TeamSite etc.)

  • TeamSite is strongly preferred

  • HTML coding experience

  • Familiarity with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat preferred

  • Basic understanding of web design best practices

  • Strong analytical and information organization skills are essential

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Analytical skills and critical thinking

Salary Range: $18,720 - $26,000

The hire range posted is an annual rate. All intern positions will be paid hourly.
