Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst for Project Accounting is responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of the accounting for AbbVie’s capital and expense projects and ensures fixed assets (FA) are managed following the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and AbbVie’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the project setup and monitoring in SAP Project Systems based on approved “Request for Capital Expenditure” (RCE), including proper classification between capital and expense charges, appropriate budget levels, cost centers, and responsible person(s).

  • Monitor the projects against agreed timelines, oversee compliance with AbbVie’s controls, policies and procedures and communicate with responsible person (s) the relevant information for decision making or the required action items from an accounting standpoint.

  • Responsible for the monthly financial activities on FA, including: the US GAAP close, variance explanations, capitalizations, transfers, and disposals, prepare the required GL account reconciliations, analyze depreciation, and monitor/report the aging for the project’s expected completion dates.

  • Analyze and approve Shopping Carts (SC) and provide technical guidance.

  • Complete “ad hoc” requests on FA and Project Accounting matters.

  • Support other activities, including but not limited to coordinate the FA physical verification, provide FA data for tax filings, prepare FA roll forwards, provide information for all audits (internal, external or government), deploy new or changes to existing AbbVie’s policies, and train site’s personnel on FA and Project Accounting matters.

  • Conform to EH&S management system requirements and compliance obligations, promote continuous improvement, and consider EH&S aspects during the design and change process. Comply with all EHS procedures and policies including incident reporting, use of PPE, waste management and disposal, and any other program applicable according to the position duties.”

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.

  • Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience is required.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Power Point, and experience in SAP Project System module with knowledge on purchasing and accounting modules interfaces are required.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, due dates, and priorities.

  • Fully bilingual (Spanish and English) is required.

  • Strong customer service and strong communication, organization and analytical skills are required.
