Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license;

  • Five or more years of full-time, practical law-enforcement or corrections experience with a public criminal justice agency.

  • Bachelor’s degree: Degrees in Criminal Justice, Sociology or Psychology are preferred;

  • Six years of full-time work experience may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience in training law enforcement officers is desired;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Independent work with minimal supervision;

  • Availability to work from home or in selected locations through the State;

  • Availability to travel as needed.

Job Concepts

The duties of the Domestic Violence Instructor shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide professional training services to assist in up to eleven (11) regional training sessions, and one (1) statewide training session directed to law enforcement, prosecutors, and other stakeholders in the justice system. Training includes, but is not limited to, in-person training sessions, consultation, preparation, trainer workshop, and/or coordination of event logistics;

  • Responsible for teaching approved curriculum to provide evidence-based, victim-centered materials to law enforcement officers;

  • Support the LADOJ’s mission and vision and abide by all agency policies;

  • Attend meetings as requested;

  • Must report directly to the Domestic Violence Specialist.
