City of Bay Minette Custodial Worker (Part-TIme) in Bay Minette, Alabama

CUSTODIAL WORKER (PART-TIME) *SALARY: $ 13.41 | HOURLY *LOCATION: BAY MINETTE, ALABAMA


The City of Bay Minette is accepting applications for the position of Custodial Worker with the City of Bay Minette Custodial Department.

This is apart-timeposition performing a variety of manual work functions associated with cleaning and maintaining City buildings and facilities. An incumbent in this position will primarily work afternoons and evenings, although weekends and holidays may be required as well.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING TASKS:

  • Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs and/or shampoos surfac:es, including carpets, floors, and walls located in hallways, stairs, office space, and restrooms; cleans spills; strips/waxes/buffs floor surfaces.
  • Cleans, dusts, and polishes furniture, equipment, artwork, fixtures, surfaces, and trim; cleans blinds, windows, and air vents.
  • Cleans, deodorizes, and disinfects bathrooms; maintains supply levels of paper and soap products in bathrooms.
  • Cleans and disinfects water fountains, telephones, or public facilities.
  • Cleans kitchen equipment and supplies, including coffeepots, coffee machines, microwave ovens, and refrigerators.
  • Empties trash and garbage containers and replaces trash liners; picks up/disposes of trash from grounds and other areas; transports trash to designated trash receptacle; disposes of hazardous waste per established procedures.
  • Changes light bulbs.
  • Sweeps and pressure washes parking decks; removes debris from drains and gutters.
  • Utilizes and maintains equipment, tools and supplies, including vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, floor buffers, mop buckets, wet vacuums, ladders, mops, brooms, and cleaning supplies.
  • Unlocks or locks buildings at the beginning or end of shift; sets up barricades.
  • Responds to routine requests for service from officials, employees, and the public.
  • Picks up and delivers supplies as directed; loads/unloads supply truck; moves furniture.
  • Assists co-workers; assists with training new employees.
  • Must accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in a timely manner.
  • Completes required logs, reports, records, and paperwork related to the job assignment.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations, utilizes proper safety precautions in work performed, and reports safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations.
  • Must meet regular attendance requirements and be task oriented.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, managers, other employees, and citizens.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license from state of residence.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be drug and alcohol-free.
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to perform active, strenuous, and moderately heavy work.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must have a good work ethic, be responsible, courteous, and possess good communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which will include afternoons/evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Rate of Pay: $13.41 per hour
