City of Bay Minette RECREATION AIDE (PART-TIME) in Bay Minette, Alabama

RECREATION AIDE (PART-TIME) SALARY: $12.16 *LOCATION: Bay Minette *

The City of Bay Minette is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Aide with the City of Bay Minette Recreation Department.

This is a part-time or seasonal position working in the City of Bay Minette Recreation Center, City Concession Stand, and Parks. An incumbent in this position will work at various recreation camps during the summer, as well as weekend events and tournaments, as needed. Hours may vary depending on the recreation camp schedules, events, and tournament schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works events and camps scheduled at the Recreation Center and/or park facilities.
  • Assists in leading camp activities, such as arts, crafts, sports, and other activity camps.
  • Enforces camp rules and regulations and ensures safety in recreational facilities.
  • Demonstrates the use of recreational equipment and teaches participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity.
  • Greets camp participants and introduces them to other campers.
  • Explains facility rules.
  • Reports complaints to leadership and works to resolve issues.
  • Performs first aid by following prescribed procedures and contacts emergency personnel when required by the situation.
  • Maintains and keeps records of camp or facility attendance.
  • Prepares routine administrative paperwork.
  • Maintains stock for concessions area.
  • Operates cash register.
  • Keeps inside and outside of recreation and park facilities clean and sanitized.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks restrooms.
  • Sets up for events, to include inflatables, sports related equipment, tents, chairs, and tables.
  • Sells, serves, and prepares and serves drinks and foods according to customer specifications.
  • Assists with food preparation and operates food production equipment.
  • Performs maintenance and groundskeeping of facilities, including dragging the fields, raking, marking lines on the ballfield.
  • Reports any broken equipment or mechanical failure to leadership.
  • Maintains professional and courteous behavior toward co-workers, camp attendees, the public, and others contacted in the course of the work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be drug and alcohol free.
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be dependable, alert, and enthusiastic.
  • Must have good work ethic, be responsible, courteous, and possess good communication skills.
  • Must exhibit a welcoming and pleasant attitude conducive to working with the public and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include afternoons/evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
  • Experience working with children or sports activities preferred.

Rate of Pay: $12.16 per hour
