Description A Brief Overview The Director of Operations will provide administrative leadership that facilitates innovative program development and operational systems support over their assigned area of responsibility. This position will work in concert with the Medical Leadership and the Hospital management team to articulate a shared vision, develop a comprehensive strategic plan and establish priorities for programs and services within area of responsibility. What You Will Do Assist the medical leadership to assess programs, establish goals and prioritize key initiatives and the required resources to implement them efficiently and effectively. Develop and negotiate business models for services provided by administration, nurses, physicians and other support personnel. Coordinates annual capital and operational budgets. Work collaboratively with all disciplines within Hospital(s) to achieve agreed upon outcomes. Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements and oversee operations to meet federal (CMS) agency, (UNOS, JCAHP) and payor (URN, Aetna) accreditation standards, guidelines and contracting policies. Formulates and recommends departmental policy and procedures changes in collaboration with medical leadership and hospital leadership. Develop and/or monitor usage of charge codes for both physician and Hospital based services. In conjunction with Hospital Finance, recommend charge levels consistent with competitive market conditions. Works closely with Hospital Patient Accounts Department to ensure accurate coding of services provided and develop comparative analysis of charge activity when considering participation with managed care contracts. Participate in the development of policies and procedures and ensure subordinate personnel effectively administer approved policies and procedures. Plan and administer, directly or through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of quality patient care for assigned programs/areas. Hire, orient, oversee training and development, schedule, assign work, evaluate, discipline and discharge subordinate personnel where appropriate and with consultation from Human Resources. Serves as a resource to assigned staff in resolving clinical, or management problems and concerns. Build, coach, develop and retain qualified, competent staff at all levels based on current and projected workload. Promote and support an environment that fosters teamwork, cooperation, respect, diversity and service to patients and families. Works in conjunction with the medical leadership to develop a long-range capital plan. Updates the plan annually based on funding support and program needs. Works in conjunction with medical leadership and the Hospital Information Services Department to develop & execute plans supporting information service need to include database development, teleconferencing and image transfer to satellite locations. Develops specific annual capital and operational budgets for both the clinical services and research programs. Also instrumental with integrating/creating a translational research program. Works in conjunction with the medical leadership and Marketing Department to develop appropriate promotional tools and materials. Works in conjunction with the medical leadership and hospital leadership to identify/support fundraising opportunities. Monitors and improves where possible relationships and communications with referring physicians. Where appropriate, seeks educational opportunities for the staff (Physicians, nurses, nurse clinical specialist's etc). Creates clear and continuous lines of communication with the medical leadership and hospital leadership that ensures performance is consistent with expectations.
