Fortive Corporation Process Engineer in Belfast, United Kingdom

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team. As a Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in optimising our manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring product quality. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in lean methodologies, kaizen, electronics, electrical systems, and software applications.

The Process Engineer will report directly to the Quality Manager. You will support the Quality Manager by driving continuous improvement and reducing External and Internal DPM. Support handling external and internal customer complaints, measuring and analysing quality data, and driving quality and process improvement using the problem-solving process (PSP) and other tools.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimisation:

  • Investigate and analyse existing manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Drive automation and development of new methods, tooling and test systems to reduce cycle time and improve quality and productivity.

  • Lean Implementation:

  • Apply lean principles to streamline workflows, eliminate non-value-added activities, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead kaizen events and workshops to foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

  • Mechanical, Electronics and Electrical Expertise:

  • Understand electronic components, circuits, and electrical systems relevant to our manufacturing processes.

  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate automation, data analytics, and control systems into our production lines.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure product quality by implementing robust quality control measures and conducting root cause analyses. Apply the Problem-Solving Process (PSP) for both external and internal Quality issues raised by implementing solid countermeasures.

  • Documentation and Training:

  • Create process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training to production teams.

  • Engineering:

  • Play an active role in NPI Projects, Cell Design and Product Tests following the EC and toll gate process, using controls and PFMEA.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and maintenance, to achieve operational excellence.

  • Participate in daily and weekly departmental meetings to develop and determine process improvements for new and existing products.

  • Performs similar, comparable or any other reasonable duty as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Electromechanical Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in lean methodologies and kaizen principles.

  • Experience with software programming, LabVIEW, and data analysis software.

  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Ability to Interpret Electrical and mechanical drawings.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of electronic measurement techniques, especially in power electronics and the analogue signal domain, would be advantageous.
