Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc. Mechanical Engineer III in Bellevue, Washington

Mechanical Engineer III for Sea-bird Electronics, Inc. in Bellevue, WA to improve DFM in all points of production; develop innovative solutions to existing design constraints through redesign efforts to capture VAVE/Scrap savings; Collect appropriate data to define, identify, Analyze, and improve manufacturing throughput, system and sub-system integration and product quality; Support Manufacturing in optimizing the design of fixture/tools for the ease of manufacturing and cost optimization; perform troubleshooting, diagnoses and resolves problems to component, module level, or system level; Develop test plans and conduct in-house and field testing that cover the expected customer use environment and operation conditions; Analyze and develop system and sub-system requirements and relationships with component specifications; Interact with machine shops and vendors throughout the design cycle for optimizing the design from manufacturability and cost stand points; Generation of Engineering Change Orders and generation of Verification and Validation test protocols.

 

Requires: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience as a mechanical engineer or related position or, alternatively, a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a mechanical engineer or related position. Experience must include: Working on mechanical design in electro-mechanical systems; CAD proficiency, specifically SolidWorks. Both modeling and drawings to meet GDT&R requirements for machine parts; Hands-on machining, bench fabrication, and prototyping; Working in labs or environments with biohazard materials; Packaging of sensitive equipment, printed circuit boards, sensors and mechanical components; Performing Engineering Analysis; Designing for manufacturability: Ease of assembly, Cost of Goods, second sourcing; Lean manufacturing; and Troubleshooting diagnosis of mechanical components and assemblies.
