Amazon Senior Fleet Reliability Engineer, Amazon Air in Bellevue, Washington

Description

The Senior Fleet Reliability Engineer is an integral part of the high performing Fleet Aviation Sourcing & Technical (FAST) team. The team leads the aircraft reliability program, drives the development of reliability analysis and develops aircraft reliability improvement projects and forecasts. The position shares analysis and projections with various stakeholders, forums and reliability program owners to surface improvement opportunities, drives lasting improvement initiatives and measures results. Reliability initiatives are focused on maintaining consistent high-level fleet reliability performance and providing the best possible service for Amazon’s customers. The position will use tools such as Minitab, Excel, QuickSight, and SQL to visualize current reliability trends and probabilistic models to project future reliability performance. Data analysis, technical program management and communication skills are critical for this position, the position interfaces with all levels of internal stakeholders and external organizations. Travel for this position is occasional and focused on meetings with stakeholders and forums.

Key job responsibilities

  • Analyze and measure fleet reliability performance from various analytical views and influence stakeholders with recommended actions

  • Develop weighed reliability data based on Amazon’s customer promise

  • Leverage and collaborate with Amazon business partners' reliability teams to build a robust reliability platform

  • Develop and oversee reliability reporting for internal and external teams

  • Recommend and champion reliability initiatives and tasks in collaboration with Amazon partners

  • Participate and drive industry best practices as it pertains to commercial aircraft fleet reliability methodologies

  • Develop and maintain the aircraft reliability standard work

  • Develop and strengthen reliability analysis and projections

  • Create data visualizations and quantified improvement recommendations

  • Centralize reliability work teams and build common initiatives

  • Expected travel requirements 10% - 20% annually

A day in the life

The daily role of the Sr. Fleet Reliability Engineer will require communications with internal stakeholders and Amazon Air partners on aircraft reliability. Tracking reliability trends and working with internal and external teams to drive improvements and track initiatives. A fair amount of time will be spent using QuickSight dashboards to visualize data and enable trend improving actions.

About the team

The Fleet Performance & Reliability (FPR) team maintains an extreme focus on providing highly reliable aircraft. The focus is critical to Amazon Air's network schedule and customers. The team works cross-functionally and externally to surface and solve for complex problems and deliver solutions. The Sr. Fleet Reliability Engineer provides analysis that enables the team to focus and improve reliability performance continuously.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with non-tech teams

  • 5+ years technical experience and working knowledge in the aerospace, airline or MRO industry

  • 3+ years of experience in Technical Program Management or equivalent

  • 2+ years of commercial aircraft reliability and performance experience

  • Experience developing analysis and data visualizations using Tableau or equivalent program solutions

  • Experience in developing statistical analysis and models

  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and MS Software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or MBA in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

  • 3+ years of owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Airline operational leadership experience with a 14CFR 121 or 135 operator engineering, maintenance or fleet activities.

  • 1+ year of commercial aircraft life cycle economics experience

  • 6+ years of commercial aircraft reliability and maintenance program experience

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant license

  • Proficient in developing analytical white papers

  • Engineering or Technical knowledge of aircraft systems

  • Continuous improvement training or certification such as Lean Six Sigma

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
