Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II), you'll lead engineering design and development with a team of engineers and product partners. To succeed in this role, you believe in high standards for code quality, code reviews, testing, and operational excellence. You create mechanisms for achieving results and iterating improvements and can lead projects end to end while working with and through other engineers to deliver results, with the autonomy to build the right solution from Day One. About the team

Are you ready to take on the challenge of controlling and tracking billions of packages for Amazon customers worldwide? If so, join our Customer Shipment Tracking and Control (CSTRAC) team, the driving force behind many features on Amazon retail.

We own the customer-facing Package Tracking page as well as its backend services, providing an accurate answer to the customer's question: "Where is my stuff?". Our team caters to numerous internal clients, making delivery tracking easily accessible across Amazon's flagship pages and products.

Our technical vision includes providing an advanced, modular service architecture that allows us to deliver accurate package tracking information. We're not just about tracking; we empower customers to control where and when they receive their package even as it's in transit.

Our challenge is to bring our services together into a cohesive and easy-to-use platform so that client teams within Amazon can self-serve their needs while we maintain a repeatable process at scale. Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
