The team you will be a part of

The Procurement team identifies researches and evaluates suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Recognizes and evaluate sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. Assesses supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards.

This role in summary

Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates to join our Global Strategic Sourcing team, as a Lead over MRO (Maintenance and Repair Operations) for the US within the Indirect Procurement organization. The role is located in Benton Harbor, Michigan, or one of our manufacturing locations in Marion, Clyde, or Findlay, Ohio. This role works very closely with cross-functional business leaders, legal, and procurement to analyze, develop, and drive category-specific sourcing initiatives to meet and exceed business metrics in terms of cost, quality, service, and delivery.

The primary stakeholders are operational leads at Whirlpool’s (9) manufacturing locations and corporate offices across the US. The position will cover $120M of spend within Indirect Procurement in industrial supplies. The chosen individual will work closely with business partners to execute initiatives that will drive down complexity, including but not limited to ordering process improvements, supply base reductions, and scaled standardization of purchases across manufacturing sites. #LI-DD1

Key Deliverables:

• Achieve 4%+ year-over-year cost reductions across MRO (Maintenance and Repair Operations) categories.

• Achieve 10%+ Supplier Base Rationalization to grow strategic partnerships and drive compliance.

• Develop and execute detailed sourcing strategies across key categories that are required to deliver objectives.

• Partner with key stakeholders in manufacturing to improve cross-functional engagement and productivity.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Lead disciplined sourcing methods to support manufacturing and corporate office purchases.

  • Lead contract negotiations and cost projects with key strategic suppliers to achieve the best cost, quality, and delivery targets.

  • Drive and deliver substantial supply base reduction through strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders and suppliers.

  • Respond to and resolve day-to-date operational supply base challenges.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, or Finance

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Interpersonal, motivational, and influential skills to engage and build rapport with business partners

  • Verbal and written communication

  • Negotiation skills and conflict resolution

  • Interpret and manipulate data with strong analytical skills

  • Project management in adherence to objectives and milestones
