Walmart Senior Manager, Systems and Infrastructure Engineering in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As a Senior Manager, Systems and Infrastructure Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of secure and reliable Point-of-Sale (POS) test labs across multiple locations in the US, including Bentonville, AR; Hoboken, NJ; Reston, VA; Sunnyvale, CA; and Seattle, WA. These labs are used for comprehensive testing of all software related to the checkout experience in Walmart and Sam's Club stores, encompassing both staffed and self-checkout registers, as well as backend infrastructure for both cloud and edge compute environments running containerized microservices. Your expertise in managing and optimizing complex technology systems will ensure the highest level of performance, security, and compliance with Walmart's standards and policies.

About Us:

The Lab Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and systems used to test and develop new technologies for Walmart and Sam's Club. Our team provides development engineers across the country with access to physical hardware that replicates a real-world retail environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and upgrade test store systems, including hardware and software.

  • Collaborate with network teams to configure test stores within labs to mimic real-world stores and clubs.

  • Work with research and development teams to design and build next-generation checkout hardware for both staff and self-checkout lanes.

  • Develop and maintain robotic automation hardware for hands-off automation testing of physical register and fuel pump hardware.

  • Manage the annual budget for hardware and software contracts related to the labs.

  • Track and manage team progress using Agile Scrum methodology.

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong knowledge of hardware and computer peripherals, preferably in the retail Point-Of-Sale space.

  • Strong knowledge of networking.

  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems, including Ubuntu Linux, Windows, and Sky OS.

  • Familiarity with robotics and CAD design.

  • Strong knowledge of Jira and Agile methodologies.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area and 5 years'experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization-related technologies.Option 2: 7 years' experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization relatedtechnologies.

2 years' supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional teams.
