A Day in the Life

Medtronic is looking for a passionate, experienced, and self-starter System Test Engineer for our Billerica, MA., facility to support Affera’s cardiac Mapping and Ablation system of products manufacturing. As a Test Engineer, you will develop, run, and optimize manufacturing test procedures, isolate and communicate failures, contribute to test system troubleshooting and debugging, and support manufacturing of Affera’s Cardiac Mapping and Ablation system products.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

· Develop test specifications/requirements for functional test processes.

  • Provide timely test support of production activities.

  • Troubleshoots test failures and proposes efficient and quality-driven solutions.

  • Identify and implement tools, fixturing, testing automation methods, and other resources necessary for electromechanical based products.

  • Develop, write, and review test plans, procedures, methods, and reports with excellent writing skills.

  • Provide detailed feedback and analysis on test yields.

  • Maintain and repair electromechanical test systems, fixtures and equipment.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement on existing Test Systems/Processes.

  • Qualification of Test Systems.

  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams and other leaders to drive work to completion and resolve issues. Successfully influence stakeholders. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management. Keeps leadership informed of progress and issues.

  • Follow all environmental, health & safety rules and procedures and participate in safety and environmental activities in order to improve the workplace for all employees.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree required

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Electromechanical Design, Test Development, and/or System Verification Testing, OR advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Electromechanical Design, Test Development, and/or System Verification Testing

Nice to Have

The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications and qualities:

· Demonstrated capability/understanding of the design and development of medical devices including electro-mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, and manufacturing processes.

· Must be hands on and experience using basic electronic test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, electrical safety analyzers, Hi-Pot testing)

· Degree in Electrical Engineering

· Has strong organizational/planning, oral communication, and technical writing skills.

· Is open-minded, collaborative, curious, strategic, hands-on, able to mentor others and can thrive in both collaborative and independent projects.

· Comfortable being a highly visible individual contributor presenting & leading projects.

· May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing.

· Experience in development and understanding of embedded firmware design (microcontrollers, FPGA) is a plus.

· Knowledge of Python programming language for scripting is desired.

· Experience in medical device development is a plus

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
