Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions Technology & Systems, reporting to the Director of Admissions Operations, is responsible for managing the systems infrastructure of the Undergraduate Office of Admissions at Binghamton University, with a primary focus on managing, innovating, and customizing the Slate platform. This includes leveraging admissions systems and technologies, such as Slate and Banner or equivalent, to continuously improve efficiency and user-experience with current trends and methods used in strategic enrollment planning. The role involves strategic analysis of enrollment management data and leading improvements in Slate business processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Director of Admissions Operations, oversee CRM maintenance and implementation of new features.

  • Utilize computing and information systems to enhance operational efficiency, identify challenges, and recommend changes to improve systems, practices, data integrity, and personnel.

  • Collaborate with various offices and stakeholders to execute system implementations, upgrades, and testing.

  • Act as a subject-matter expert for university personnel on admissions processing, reporting, and databases, including highly proficient data extraction and analysis skills in Slate.

  • Troubleshoot routine and emergency system issues, identify root causes, and facilitate communication with staff and stakeholders.

  • Provide training for employees related to operational work, audit and review work for completeness and accuracy.

  • Actively participate in all admissions service unit responsibilities, delegating related work to staff as needed.

  • Serve as the lead professional on technology matters, including Banner, Slate CRM, and document imaging.

  • Ensure optimum service to internal and external partners in response to all admissions-related requests for service and information.

  • Support an inclusive environment and build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the university.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in higher education enrollment management, or a similar role, with a strong operational and/or technical component, along with project management experience

  • Occasional evenings and weekend work

  • Ability to critically read and analyze applications for admission

  • Willingness to participate on projects collaboratively with a larger team

  • Strong strategic thinking skills, oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated good judgment and discretion

  • Ability to understand and communicate university policies and procedures

  • Ability to train staff

  • Proficiency in using computer databases for admissions

Preferred::

  • Master's degree in data science, information technology, social sciences, or a related field

  • Work experience with college-bound students and the public

  • Experience with Slate, Banner SIS, SAS, Common Application, Coalition Application, and other related technologies

  • Previous experience with admissions/enrollment management operations or data analysis
