Job Description:

Parsons is expanding its Instrument and Controls (I&C) to support our manufacturing and industrial clients. This position will be the primary I&C engineer on the project but will be supported by an I&C discipline lead, other I&C engineers, and I&C designer in the overall engineering group.

Summary:

Sustaining Engineer is responsible for designing and developing equipment used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery, and processes in the manufacturing industry. May also oversee installing, managing, and/or maintaining the above systems, and be responsible for the maintenance, redesign, improvement, and general support of existing and developmental products. Ensure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to size and specify instrumentation including pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters and transmitters, control valves and actuators, and pressure relief valves commonly used in manufacturing industry.

  • Specify instrumentation, control valves, and process safety valves.

  • Collaborate with design engineering and production areas, ensuring compliance with FCC and ISO 9000 standards.

  • Test, maintain, and modify existing control and instrumentation systems.

  • Analyze data and present findings in written reports.

  • Must be able to work on several projects at one time through changing priorities.

  • Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, drafters, project managers of varying disciplines.

  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities.

  • Manage fast paced projects within cost- and time-constrained environments.

  • Troubleshoot and solve problems.

  • Understand and ensure compliance with the required health and safety regulations and quality standards.

  • Provide advice and consulting support.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Skills in specific control disciplines such as:

  • distributed control systems (DCS)

  • programmable logic controllers (PLC)

  • supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)

  • Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment

  • Five plus years in heavy industry specifying, designing and troubleshooting instruments, control panels, control philosophies, PLCs, and related technologies preferred

  • Experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, PLCs, DCS, development of P&IDs and programming skills are a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering required.

Salary Range:

$96,400.00 - $168,700.00
