Position # RB06 Master Mechanic

Starting wage \$23.27
Typical work hours 40 hours per week; shifts vary by season. May be required to work overtime. Full benefits available.
JOB SUMMARY
Maintains and repairs light and heavy equipment owned by Boundary County, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and determining the most effective and cost-efficient method of repair. Repairs drive train, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and all other systems. Installs electrical and electronic equipment, fabricates parts and assists in the construction of special tools and equipment. Basic computer skills and computerized diagnostic equipment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent. THE FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE PREFERRED -NOT REQUIRED:
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification combined with 2 years on the job training or 6 years verifiable experience with auto/truck/heavy equipment repair and welding/machine/metal fabrication experience.
- Specialized training in the field of heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of open and closed hydraulic systems, including testing, repair and set up. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Idaho Commercial Driver\'s License-Class A.
- Must be able to use wire feed and AC/DC welders, plasma cutters, acetylene torches, and other cutting and welding devices.
- Must have experience in metal fabrication.
- Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and have knowledge of use of technical manuals and specifications.
- Must provide own hand tools.
- Proficiency with advanced computerized diagnostics equipment and basic skills with data entry (into Excel and related programs).
