Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips is currently seeking a Project Superintendent to join the Manufacturing organization located at our Borger Plant location. The Project Superintendent is responsible for supervising, developing and training the personnel within the Project group which includes a team of 10 individuals. This role has oversight for the preparation and execution of the $9 - $12MM annual capital budget and the approximately $4MM annual expense project budget. This role assures consistent application of CPDEP to deliver quality projects in support of plant needs in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the preparation of project designs, economic analysis, cost estimation, engineering and economics for capital projects.

  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate and align work activities to ensure that effective project engineering services are delivered.

  • Partners with Operations, Maintenance, EHSS Superintendents and sit e LT to establish and align on project priorities consistent with site personal safety, process safety, environmental and reliability targets and improvement objectives

  • Ensures Chevron Project Development and Execution Process (CPDEP), Safety in design (SID), CPChem Engineering Standards are consistently implemented on projects, as required

  • Communicates accurate and timely project information in a clear, concise, easy to understand format

  • Oversees development and execution of the site capital budget and expense project budget, to support plant needs and meet targets

  • Oversees resource loaded portfolio project schedule to identify and proactively mitigate constraints

  • Oversees onsite, nested Project Construction Contractor team consisting of approximately forty employees

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Monitors and responds to project metrics, driving improvements in IPA performance and portfolio management

  • Partners with on-site and off-site engineering and design contractors assure work is coordinated in accordance with site priorities and procedures, and issues are resolved in a timely manner

  • Participates in identification of project related PBD initiatives and drives value capture

  • Participates on Core Turnaround Team and ensures turnaround project work meets TAPS deliverables and timelines.

  • Provides engineering support to operations and maintenance as it relates to equipment performance, reliability and construction.

  • Participates on the Capital Stewardship Best Practice Team, and acts as the site liaison with Corporate Engineering

  • Develops, mentors and manages performance of project team members.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years' experience in a chemical plant or manufacturing environment

  • Experience with CPDEP or other project management process

  • Commitment to safety along with strong leadership and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplined teams

  • Strong project management and facilitation skills

  • Knowledge of industry design codes and practices

  • Ability to identify gaps, develop and execute improvement initiatives and promote change management

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects in various stages of implementation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Science

  • Experience in SAP, scheduling, project controls, and cost estimation

  • A minimum of 2 years of prior supervisory experience
