Job Summary

PhET Interactive Simulations is seeking a dynamic and driven Partnerships and Sales Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about science and math education, and eager to drive growth through strategic partnerships. The specialist will work closely with Edtech companies in the US and around the world, including traditional publishers, new media companies, interactive whiteboard companies, and companies focused on AI tools or assessments, to expand PhET's impact in the education sector.

Who We Are

Founded in 2002 by Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman, the PhET Interactive Simulations project at University of Colorado Boulder is a world leader in the design and use of interactive math and science simulations for advancing STEM education. The PhET team is dedicated to high-quality STEM education for all students, disseminating PhET simulations as open (free) education resources globally and pioneering approaches for making interactive content accessible to all learners. Today, PhET simulations are used more than 225 million times per year globally and translated into more than 100 languages.

The PhET team is a passionate, creative, and productive group, including STEM education, simulation, and inclusive design experts, education researchers, software engineers, quality assurance specialists, and more. Our project is a blend of an academic research project, an outreach project, and an innovative education technology company, housed within the Department of Physics and working with diverse partners at CU Boulder and around the world. PhETs work has received numerous international awards, including being named a 2017 WISE Awards Winner, a 2011 Tech Award Laureate, and winner of the 2014 Reimagine Education Award.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The applicant will join the vibrant and productive PhET team, working closely with PhETs Director, Business Manager, PhET-iO Product Manager, and Global Initiatives team, as well as interfacing with our clients instructional design and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify prospective education technology partners that have the potential to benefit from PhET simulations

  • Build and maintain relationships with partners and prospective partners, who are candidates for our business-to-business revenue-generating partnership program.

  • Conduct product demos, answer questions about PhETs use in other products, and facilitate contract negotiations and execution.

  • Grow the revenue of PhETs Partnership Program

  • Manage existing partners to ensure they receive support and benefits from the partnerships

  • Track and analyze partnership performance metrics, including leads, new partnerships, and revenue within Salesforce

  • Maintain Salesforce partnership records, updating accounts and logging account activities

  • Together with an operations teams, work collaboratively to improve partnership processes and tracking

  • Stay up-to-date with trends in the Edtech industry to identify new opportunities and bring back best practices to the PhET team.

  • Accommodate some flexibility in work hours, in order to occasionally meet with prospective international partners.

What We Can Offer

  • This is a part-time (50%, 20 hours/week) position with the possibility of an expanded role (up to 100%, 40 hours/week), if desired.

  • The start date is flexible.

  • The annual starting salary range for this position is $40,000 - $55,000 (for 20 hours/week), or $80,000-$110,000 (for full time, 40 hours/week). Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

  • Candidates can work remotely in the United States, or relocate to Boulder. Modest relocation funds are available for this position following the University of Colorados relocation processes and procedures.

What We Require

  • Bachelors degree

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.

  • 5+ years professional work experience

  • Either experience in education sales with a passion for science and math education, OR experience in science and/or math pedagogy with a passion for sales and the education technology space. Both would be a plus!

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, when working with team members as well as clients.

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Flexibility to occasionally meet with prospective international partners who work in different time zones

  • Ability to participate in and help foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that values learning, growth, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to quickly learn new business tools and processes, including Slack, Salesforce, Google Suite, MS Office Suite, GitHub, and Docusign.

  • Enthusiasm for the mission of the PhET Project.
