Job Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Security Systems Engineer 2, you will become an expert in deploying various technologies to improve our customers' physical security posture. You should be able to quickly and thoroughly understand customers’ needs and translate them into a system design, define systems adoption plans that can be deployed at scale for global systems.

Become an expert in one or more technology sets in Physical Security: Access Control, Video Management (CCTV), Intrusion Detection, Perimeter Detection Systems, Biometrics, Device Detection Systems, and Unified Systems.Develop expertise on vendor software and hardware products, establish and foster vendor relationships, collaborate and work closely with vendor product teams to provide product evaluation feedback and contribute to improving these solutions for our customers. Have an understanding of the IT environments needed to operate in and collaborate with network security teams to securely deploy the best solutions. Work with a team of Security Engineers and other cross-functional teams to share your knowledge and gain an even deeper understanding of how large enterprises aresecured.

Here's what your typical project will look like:

  • Identify candidate technologies and solutions based on customers’ needs and requirements.

  • Evaluate existing and new solutions against defined requirements and industry best practices.

  • Design, sustain, and provide technical support for deployed security systems.

  • Develop procedures to validate system configuration, data input and data migration. Ensure high data quality ingestion in new and existing systems.

  • Develop test plans, deployment plans and administration procedures.

  • Write high quality documentation for system standards and operations.

  • Provide training on newly deployed security systems to cross-functional teams, including the development of training documentation, videos, and other tools.

  • Identify limitations and propose improvements for deployed security systems.

  • Work with internal teams to assess and resolve all privacy, network security, and scalability concerns for the systems.

  • Collaborate with installation, deployment, administration and other cross-functional teams to define standards, provide recommendations and guidance on solution deployments, resolve issues, and improve systems’ features.

  • Continually re-evaluate the systems to ensure they are still effective and actively assess how new technology developments or changes in the environment may require new solutions.

  • Develop further expertise and become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs and provide recommended improvements per industry best practices.

Specific position requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or engineering adjacent (e.g. MIS, CIS, Cybersecurity) with 0-2 years of experience.

  • Familiar with programs such as: MS Office Suite, MS SharePoint, AutoCad (or similar), Bluebeam.

  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

  • Effective communication.

  • Experience with Systems Engineering and Administration.

  • Hands on experience designing and deploying Physical Security Systems.

  • Application and System administration, including issue triage, problem resolution, and system data analysis.

  • System lifecycle support, including the maintenance of lab/evaluation environments and upgrade/migration plan generation and execution.

  • Experience designing and maintaining engineering solutions.

  • Reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer.

  • Self-motivated and driven.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Highly qualified candidates should demonstrate:

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, 2N, Geutebruck and/or others. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of how these systems operate and be familiar with flaws and improvements.

  • Working knowledge and/or certification for general purpose operating systems and virtualization platforms (i.e. Windows, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, CentOS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).

  • Familiarity with physical security designs, standard operating procedures, and security operations.

  • Programming and scripting experience (i.e. Javascript, PowerShell, Python), experience with systems integration tools and protocols (e.g. APIs, SOAP and REST, XML/JSON), database design and query development.

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, RTP, RTSP and others).

  • Corresponding vendor certifications include Associate, Professional, or Expert level certifications from Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, etc. Experience deploying ESS or IOT devices on secure network environments is a plus.

  • Networking: CCNA, CompTIA N+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA S+ Databases: MS SQL, MySQL

  • Scripting: Python, PowerShell

Abilities:
