JOB DESCRIPTION: Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements. Coordinate the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule. Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists invalidation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software. Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues. Assists in performing site-specific training for owner or operator on the total building control system. Participate in release meeting with project field team. Perform value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction. Adhere to safety standards and high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology Management or a related field and 3 years of experience as a MEP Consulting Engineer, Building Automation Engineer, Controls Systems Designer or related occupation in the construction or HVAC industry. The applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems or other building subsystems; (2) Integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e., LON, or BacNet); (3) Relating technical knowledge to a non-technical audience; (4) Utilizing computer-related drafting tools such as Visio or AutoCAD; (5) Building HVAC systems and components; (6) Reading plans and specifications to ensure compliance with the contract documents; and (7) Reviewing Scope of Work and Controls Estimates to compare to the contract documents for accuracy.
