Shift ALL Security ClearanceNo Clearance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description) The Rigger 3rd Class is responsible for assisting other trades in removing ships equipment and/or structural components by the use of lifting equipment such as chain falls, cranes, shackles, and slings. NASSCO Riggers must be able to meet the requirements of an Outside Machinist. POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training/Experience) Have advanced knowledge of crane signals and terminologies. Ability Communicate with crane operators via hand signals or voice over radios. Ability to carry and use chain falls Have advanced knowledge in properly inspect, use, and store, wire rope pennants and slings. Be able to carry a small tool bag and assist in outside machinist duties. Minimum of 1 year shipyard rigging experience. Must be able to work at heights of 20 feet or greater. Must be able to climb, sit, stand, walk, kneel, and crawl for long periods of time. Have a minimum of basic tools. Must be a Qualified Rigger Level 1 and Qualified Signal Person - OSHA 1926 Subpart CC Certified. Must be able to show proof of certifications. X Industrial Shop Food Service Boiler Shop X Outdoors Janitorial Other Vision Requirements: The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach or performing mechanical or skilled trades' tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by electricians, technicians, service people, painters, mechanics, etc. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to shop supervisor. This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Welders and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals. STANDARD EQUIPMENT ISSUE None. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Evening, weekend and/or extended hours may be required. Approx. 90% of a mechanics time is devoted to actual production. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels. Pay Range: $22.08-$28.98 The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity.
