Coordinates and evaluates elements of financial, material, and staff resources in the provision of Central Sterile Processing. Works as a liaison/educator between the Central Services Department and the Operating Room staff to assure continuous communications, quality improvement and cost reductions as it relates to all surgical instruments, implants, medical/surgical supplies, equipment, patient charges and services provided through the Surgical Case Cart System. Assists with monitoring and addressing staff performance as appropriate. Serves as a technical expert in matters regarding sterilization/clinical applications for materials issues including handling of instrument implants. Directs workflow within the department to achieve maximum outcomes and shares in call rotation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent. 2. Graduate of an approved surgical tech and/or certified central service tech program. 3. Certification through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM). 4. Certification as Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) within 90 days of hire. 5. CHL required within 90 days of hire. EXPERIENCE: 1. Five years of related sterile processing experience 2. One (1) year supervisory, team lead, or coordinator experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor's degree in an applicable field.

Implements and coordinates SPD operational procedures in conjunction with the Manager. Includes work processes governing the decontamination, processing, and sterilization of procedure instruments, trays, scopes, instrument implants, supplies, and equipment. Responsible for the daily practice compliance to regulatory standards, policies/procedures, and national organizational standards. 3. Develops and manages systems which assure the accuracy of inventory counts and PAR levels based on usage and history of products including performing audits to improve product quality to the end user.
