BRIDGERLAND TECHNICAL COLLEGE Full-time Cosmetology/Barbering Instructor in BRIGHAM CITY, Utah

Full-time Cosmetology Instructor needed. Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Qualification:

High School Diploma, a valid Cosmetology License, and a minimum of 2-3 years experience in the industry.

Duties Include:

  • Demonstrating and checking professional customer intake and consultations.
  • Involvement in formulating color and chemical services, product application techniques, timing, and process checking.
  • Demonstrating and checking haircuts, colors, styles, hair removal, barbering, and basic/advanced nail services.
  • Demonstrating and assisting in record keeping and rescheduling.
  • Involving and teaching students in salon work environments.
  • Customer service.
  • Operating a point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Business phone calls and scheduling appointments.
  • Assumes responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrating and checking professional customer intake and consultations.
  • Involvement in formulating color and chemical services, product application techniques, timing, and process checking.
  • Demonstrating and checking haircuts, hairstyles, hair removal, barbering, and basic/advanced nail services.
  • Demonstrating and assisting in record keeping and rescheduling.
  • Involving and teaching students in salon work environments.
  • Ensuring the safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting and raising arms and hands to demonstrate and check salon services
  • Moving and bending when checking salon services at the stylist chairs, shampoo sinks, facial tables, and manicure/pedicure areas.

Teaching:

  • Plans, develops, and presents curriculum materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and other instructional materials and provides learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines in topics relating to their specific curriculum.
  • Creates, administers, and corrects exams.
  • Maintains accountability of students in classrooms and office areas.
  • Contributes, as appropriate, to program improvement and development to reflect current industry standards.

Communication:

  • Assures effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility.
  • Establishes a professional, respectful rapport with students, staff, and administration.
  • Participates in department and College meetings as appropriate.
  • Represents the College to external constituencies as appropriate.
  • Seeks to promote a spirit of collegiality when interacting with faculty and staff.

Student Assessment, Reporting and Supporting:

  • Assumes academic advising responsibilities for students within the faculty member's field of expertise.
  • Maintains current and accurate academic progress, attendance, course grades, competency evaluations and tests, and disciplinary documentation when applicable.
  • Keeps a ccurate and complete student files
  • Is familiar with College assessment and placement procedures and aware of campus resources.

Leadership/Professional Development:

  • Provides leadership and demonstrates professional behavior in the learning environment.
  • Promotes development of professio al attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors among students through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Coordinates with the instructional team to resolve issues affecting student training.
