About the Role:

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is seeking an Associate Director of Behavioral Health to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight at our Bronx location. This role ensures high-quality behavioral health services, compliance with city, state, and federal regulations, and seamless integration between primary care and behavioral health services within our Integrated Outpatient Services (IOS) clinics.

The Associate Director will supervise and support behavioral health providers, oversee patient referrals and engagement, and collaborate with leadership to optimize service delivery. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader passionate about patient-centered care, clinical supervision, and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Associate Director of Behavioral Health your responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical Supervision & Leadership: Provide direct supervision to behavioral health providers, including LMSWs, LCSWs, and other clinical staff, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with regulations.

  • Integrated Care Coordination: Collaborate with medical, nursing, and site leadership teams to streamline referrals, patient transitions, and care coordination between primary care and behavioral health services.

  • Patient Access & Service Oversight: Manage behavioral health assessments, referrals, and waitlists, ensuring timely access to care and successful linkage to internal and external services.

  • Quality & Compliance Monitoring: Oversee peer chart and utilization reviews, ensure documentation meets OMH, DOH, HRSA, and CMS standards, and support providers in meeting performance benchmarks.

  • Program Development & Workflow Optimization: Work with other Associate Directors to design, implement, and evaluate workflows for assessments, short-term therapy, specialty therapy programs, and group therapy services.

  • Operational & Administrative Support: Act as the primary contact for urgent behavioral health referrals, facilitate structured patient intakes and discharges, and work with leadership to improve interdepartmental communication.

  • Provider Performance & Evaluation: Conduct performance evaluations, training, and professional development for supervised staff while addressing patient feedback and concerns.

    Work Schedule:

    This is a full-time position with evening hours.

Qualifications

Education, Experience

  • NYS licensure as a LCSW or PhD/PsyD required

  • Experience working in an outpatient primary care, hospital, or other medical setting

  • Experience working with excel and developing reports to monitor patient outcomes and measures

  • 3-5 years of supervisory, leadership, or related experience

  • Knowledge of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV health/behavioral health issues and concerns

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple evidence-based approaches to behavioral health treatment

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the provision of direct social services, problem solve, and optimize service delivery systems
