RiseBoro Homecare Inc. HR Assistant in BROOKLYN, New York

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources and working closely with the HR Operations Lead, the HR Assistant provides administrative tasks and services to support the effective and efficient operations of RiseBoro’s HR department. The responsibility of the HR Assistant will include but not be limited to record-keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, and general office support. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide clerical support to the HR department i.e. answer phone calls, filing, copying, scanning, scheduling office meetings/events, etc.

  • Conduct or assist with new hire orientations; a ssist with the onboarding and maintaining compliance; background checks, reference checks, etc.

  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees

  • Process invoices in Yardi software

  • Effectively and accurately input employee data into HRIS

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation both physical and electronic

  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately

  • Assist with the preparation of human resource reports such as headcount, attendance, new hire, turnover reports, etc.

  • Receive and distribute office mail; office mailing

  • Conduct inventory and maintenance of office supplies and services

  • Assist or prepare correspondence as requested i.e. employment verifications, follow-ups

  • Assist with recruitment efforts i.e. attending events, entering information in the Applicant Tracking System, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, job postings, etc.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or needed

    COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated prior experience in Human Resources and knowledge of HR functions and best practices preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail i.e. physical filing, e-filing

  • A self-starter with a positive enthusiastic attitude and the ability to engage, connect, and exude commitment and passion for the work required

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team

  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable with assigned work schedule(s) and work tasks as needed

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems

  • Commitment to RiseBoro’s mission, vision, and values

  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism/bias; ability to understand their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities that have experienced systemic oppression i.e. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in a related field required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • A minimum of one (1) year of professional human resource experience preferred
