Lead Accountant, Financial Reporting for Delaware North Companies, Inc. in Buffalo, NY, to support unit and subsidiary management in the preparation and review of monthly accounting close process, contractual reporting compliance and annual external audit of the business. Translate strategy into operational goals and objectives and then execute against those strategies and standards in alignment with accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, and financial systems and controls. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes for the business. Mentor Global Business Services team, including administering annual performance reviews for direct reports. Support annual plan and projection process for business, provide insightful review of year-over-year changes, and recommend areas of focus to improve operating margins. Prepare standard monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries required for assigned units and locations. Review trial balance accounts periodically for assigned units and locations and ask appropriate questions and review reconciliations to become materially aware of accounts. Collaborate with corporate functions across the board to ensure any required changes to policies, procedures, and processes are implemented. Collaborate with data owners/stewards to align on process and data issues.Requires Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Business, Accounting or related field plus two (2) years of experience as Accountant (or closely related field) performing audit. Must possess one year experience in: Monitoring monthly accounting close process for the business; processing adjustments or corrections through journal entries; and preparing reconciliations. Analyzing account activity and variances to determine and document month-over-month changes. Preparing year-end Financial Statements, footnotes, and audit related support. Researching accounting questions on specific transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards, and drafting accounting memos detailing the accounting position taken for the transaction. Preparing bank compliance reports, yearly reserves analysis, construction work in process accruals calculations, goodwill and long-lived assets impairment analysis.
