POSITION SUMMARY:

For our Lockers Manufacturing plant based in Calgary. We are looking for an experienced Machine Operator for the evening shift Monday to Thursday (4X10). The Press/ Punch Brake Machine Operator will be responsible for successfully completing various tasks within one or more areas of the press shop. Preferably well familiar with standards concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. The operator must be detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic, display a contagious ability to motivate coworkers, successfully meet the daily goal requirements, and fearless attitude on exceeding company targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with Supervisor and Lead Hand to ensure that daily productivity targets are met in a timely and safe manner.

  • Demonstrate positive and safe workplace behavior at all time and work as a team in the achievement of daily production targets.

  • Completes a variety of tasks within a department (Press Shop, Assembly line, Cut to length and Shear)

  • Sets up and operates brake press and/ Or notching machines, in accordance with established safe procedures.

  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion

  • Comply with company’s EHS guidelines and ensure all required PPE are used while working on the manufacturing shop floor

  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.

  • Focuses on learning additional tasks and ensuring quality at all times.

  • Perform repetitive tasks and handle material up to 5-20 Lbs. for 10-hour shift.

  • Contributes to the overall functioning of the team by maintaining awareness of best practices/emerging issues, both internally and externally, sharing best practices and building effective working relationships across the team and company.

  • Strong desire to train in any/all departments.

  • Performs other duties as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-3 years of manufacturing experience in the field or in a related area

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent

  • Able to demonstrate good understanding on Standard Work Instruction for all tasks expected to perform

  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required

  • Must be flexible to work extra hours during weekdays and weekends

  • Demonstrates some leadership skills through informal coaching and teaching others

  • Ability, willing, and motivated to lead and mentor co-workers in the future
