For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.Primary Role Under the direction of supervisor inspects, operates, maintains, and makes minor repairs to the heavier and more complex construction and maintenance equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, and specialized sewer (sanitary and stormwater) cleaning vehicles in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life following company, local, state and federal regulations, policies and proceduresKey Accountabilities * Operates trucks and construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, backhoe, man-lift, dump truck, snowplow, front-end loader, hydraulic excavators, skid steers, jetter/inductor trucks, and vacuum trucks. * Operates portable sewer maintenance equipment, such as trailer/skid mounted sewer rodders and jetters. * Performs daily safety and maintenance checks on said heavy equipment. * Maintain a variety of records related to equipment inspections, maintenance activity, etc., necessary for regulatory compliance. * Cleans and services said heavy equipment as scheduled per the respective heavy equipment manufacturer's Operation and Maintenance Manuals. * Advise supervision of any requirement for non-routine maintenance or major repairs. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Follows Company Environmental, Health and Safety Policies, and reports unsafe conditions to supervision immediately Knowledge/Skills * Able to operate motorized heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. * Able to perform routine maintenance and servicing of the heavy equipment, including cleaning, greasing, making minor adjustments and minor repairs per the respective heavy equipment manufacturer's Operation and Maintenance Manuals. * Able to prepare and maintain accurate paperwork such as records, logs, orders, surveys and routine reports as directed. * Able to communicate effectively will all levels of the organization. * Able to perform accurate mathematical calculations related to this position. * Able to plan, schedule, prioritize, and coordinate work within assigned work area. * Ability to respond to emergencies. * Able to use of motorized vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, heavy trucks, tamper, portable generators, portable pumps, ditch witch, etc. as requireTo view the full job description, click here
