U.S. Army Sustainment Command Operations Officer in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait

About the Position: This position is with the 401st Army Field Support located in Kuwait. This position will be filled on a temporary basis not to exceed 13 months with the possibility of extensions. Responsibilities Provide and coordinate readiness reporting requirements with subordinate units. Initiate corrective actions and ensure coordination of actions with government and contractor personnel. Task equipment required to support operational missions by overseeing maintenance and/or upgrading equipment. Develops/coordinates the organization’s plans with the supported taskforce. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as; 1) Preparing briefings on the operational status of the organization; 2) Overseeing maintenance and upgrade of equipment used to support the mission; and 3) Providing policy/procedural guidance to staff to ensure supply/maintenance operation requirements are met. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Decision Making Oral Communication Organizational Awareness Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional Information Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Direct deposit of pay is required. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Employees who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250. This is a(n) General Administration and Management Career Field position. The initial length of this overseas tour is 13 months. Defense National Relocation Program will not be authorized. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Tour is unaccompanied. Temporary storage of household goods costs will be paid for 1 year assignments. Government housing is provided.
