Responsibilities NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Domestic Appliance Repairer BUSINESS TITLE: Commercial Equipment/Domestic Appliance Repairer JOB SERIES: 4855 PAY LEVEL: NA-09 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is located in the Logistics Branch, Facilities Management Branch (FMB), Specialties Unit, Project Crew Shop, Camp Hansen, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Butler. Responsible for the maintenance and repair services of electrical, gas, and industrial type appliances for MCCS activities. Independently or as a member of a team: troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, overhauls, modifies, fabricates, replaces, and calibrates a variety of industrial electronic/gas appliances and equipment (e.g., dishwashers, microwaves, gas and electric ovens, grills, fryers, steamers, refrigerators, dough mixers, washing machines and dryers, duct and ventilation system, etc.) utilized in all MCCS activities to include recreational, business, child care development care and athletics facilities. Troubleshoots and repairs other complex type equipment, but not limited to kilns, photo lab machines, roof ventilators, compressor motors, electrical monitoring devices, relay systems, electronic panels, servo mechanism that utilize transistorized solid state and electrical sensors/controls, printed circuit boards, conductors, pool motors, solenoids, AC recharger, electric bulletin board, and other related machinery or electrical devises. Independently selects and orders replacement parts and wiring from knowledge of mechanical, electrical, gas, and electronic symbols, color-code, technical blueprints/diagrams, and engineering specifications. Uses technical and manufacturer manuals to research and order components for repairs. Performs technical inspections on gas, electrical and/or electronic equipment to determine serviceability and initiates documentation for repair or replacement through supervisor. Utilizes special trade tools such as micro-analyzers, electronic leak detector, amp meters, and multi meters including regular hand tools. Assists with periodic inventories of appliances, refrigeration and electronic parts and components for accountability. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; OR, Have completed a formal vocational training program; OR, Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with preference for employment rather than continuing education. (Valid documentation will be required upon hire.) Must have 2 years of journeyman level experience or equivalent work experience and knowledge in using/interpreting schematics that combine wiring diagrams, electrical, mechanical systems, gas appliances, and electronic sensing devises with industrial/commercial appliances. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform frequent bending, stooping, standing, cramped position, and lifting and moving objects weighing up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance Ability to make professional decisions based on thorough research and analysis of deficiencies. Knowledge and ability in the use of test equipment such as circuit analyzers, clamp-on ammeters, multi meters, capacitor testers, manifold gauges, electronic leak detectors and vacuum pumps, gas meters. Must have knowledge and experience working with appliance and gas trades related tools. Knowledge of the principles of gas appliances, refrigeration, electrical theory, electrical safety, electronic fundamentals, and have a working knowledge of plumbing, soldering, brazing techniques. Knowledge of the Electrical Code, electronic amplification, mechanical systems and skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools commensurate with repair work. Must be able to operate 2-3 ton vehicle. A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit is required for the performance of duties for this position. Inability to obtain or maintain appropriate GOV licensing may result in termination for lack of qualifications. The incumbent is required to obtain required GOV licenses within 30 days of hire.
