Description

Job Summary:

The Property Accountant is responsible for managing the financial transactions, reporting, and analysis for a portfolio of properties. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective communication with property managers, clients, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each property.

  • Ensure all financial reports comply with accounting standards and regulations.

  • Generate variance reports and explain differences between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures.

General Ledger Maintenance:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to property operations.

  • Ensure accurate posting of property revenues, expenses, and other financial transactions.

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing processes.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulations.

Tenant and Property Management Support:

  • Collaborate with property managers to review and understand property financial performance.

  • Provide financial insights and support for property management decisions.

  • Address tenant inquiries and issues related to financial matters.

  • Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in property management or real estate.

  • Experience with property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage) is a plus.

  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
